PATHWAY 2 INDEPENDENCE
Pathway 2 Independence is a personalised curriculum for children with autism and Special Educational Needs (SEND). It targets those areas that will improve the individual's quality of life as they approach adulthood, including independent living, social skills and communication. It builds on skills at their own pace and removes comparisons to typically developing peers therefore reducing the stigma that effect self esteem and motivation (for both pupils and families). P2I shapes the curriculum to support the individuals Pathway 2 Independence.
Pathway 2 Independence has a built in assessment programme that measures children and young adults against the Preparing for Adulthood Outcomes as well as the Pathway 2 Independence areas. It has been developed with experts from the worlds of education, Applied Behavioural Analysis, Positive Behaviour Support, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy as well as input from service users and parents.
A bespoke training package can be designed for your school and the needs of your learners. Our trainers have expertise in many different educational settings (SEND, Mainstream, Residential, HMP, PRU, Childrens Services).
I really like the assessment tool. I found it easy to fill out, it is intuitive and it clearly shows what the pupils need to focus on to be more independent and it clearly breaks things down into teachable units
Before, I didn't know what was or should be taught, P2I is clear and shows what benefits my child now and in the future. I like how visual it is but most of all how my child is not compared to others.
I could not agree with the P2I more! A tool that will assess the whole child against their pathway to adulthood is exciting and unique
